shashank's blog

Just out of blogging but not out of studies :)

Its been long time I blogged. Sticked to studies all these days.
Major update got my dynamips machine up and running. 4 GB RAM and Quad core runs all routers with ease ;)...
Did some labbing mean time.
Covered QOS, BGP, OSPF.

continued with IPV6 and Access list this week

Did a brief reading about IPV6 and Access-list.
IPV6 is not that difficult as only thing you need to understand is the addressing scheme and intricacies in address.
Didn't find any difference in routing I mean layer 3 and above.

Time to start labbing will get my setup up comming week.

Not much of study today

Was waiting for some reason to escape reading and did that today with the pretext of being weekend :)..
Will be travelling next week..Will make sure to keep reading and updating myself.
Once I am back from this trip will get my lab up..

variations in ospf frame-relay

Read ospf over frame-relay. One thing to understand here is how the hello messages are generated in various topologies of frame-relay.point-point, point-multipoint, point-multipoint(NB).

Also understand the compatability Broadcase and NBMA are not compatable with frame-relay.point-point, point-multipoint, point-multipoint(NB) and Vice versa.

Read and understood basics of route redistribution.

I want to understand all topics first and get comfortable with them while doing lab :).

So far it had been good rhythm...

Had good coverage

Understood behavior of ospf under broadcast,NBMA, point-point, point-Multipoint(broadcast). Need to complete point-Multipoint (Non broadcast)...

Will revise entire list again and write a small blog on my understanding.

Started with layer 2

Had a good study on VTP, pruning, vtp domains, vtp modes, lacp, pagp.

And started with basic L3. Understood how a router actually does routing.(Longest route map, recursive lookup for interface and then encapsulation). Did some PBR and access list not fully comfortable with PBR and access lists. will spend some more time later.

Planning to start with some routing(rip, ospf) will get back to PBR later....

cisco documentation wealt of information

Scanned Documentation site of Cisco. Its real wealth and only friend during examination.
Will scan through ospf RFC some time this day.
Some travelling expected(job related) this week, taking few docs will be handy during transit...

Start of my Journey

CCIE had been a dream to achieve right from the 1st day of my work. Way back 2002 :).

Finally after so many years started my journey. Hope will stick to it and finish it 7-8 months time frame.
